What is the generic version of Vyvanse?

According to Drugs.com, no generic version of Vyvanse has been approved in the United States, as of 2014. Vyvanse was approved by the FDA in 2007. The drug is manufactured by Shire Development.

Drugs.com explains that Vyvanse is a stimulant for the central nervous system, targeting chemicals in the brain and nerves that influence hyperactivity. Vyvanse is intended to be used by adults and by children who are at least 6 years old.

According to the Vyvanse website, some common side effects from taking the drug include anxiety, diarrhea, irritability, decreased appetite, weight loss, difficulty sleeping, dizziness and vomiting. A more serious side effect of Vyvanse is the slowing of growth in children.
