US Air was initially known as All-American Airways in 1939, then morphed into Allegheny Airlines, after which it became US Air. As of 2015, following several mergers, its name is US Airways.
US Air started out delivering airmail to western Pennsylvania and the Ohio valley in 1939, using single engine Stinson Reliant aircraft. In 1949 US Air transitioned to passenger service with the acquisition of DC-3 planes.
US Airways is one of the major American carriers, and American Airlines Group owns and operates it. This airline has domestic and international destinations, operating in more than 20 countries throughout North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
