The Auto Train is an Amtrak route that transports passengers and their vehicles, usually cars or motorcycles, from Washington, D.C. to Florida. The cost of a one-way ticket on the Auto Train can range from $300 to $800, as of December 2015.
The Auto Train does not make stops along its route. The route's two terminals are in Lorton, Virginia, and Sanford, Florida. The train generally follows Interstate 95 while crossing North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
The Auto Train is an overnight train. Therefore, the fare includes dinner and breakfast. The traveler can also reserve a private bedroom or a roomette.
