What are the average parking space dimensions?

The average perpendicular or angled parking space has a length of between 16 and 18 feet and is 7.9 to 9 feet wide. These dimensions correspond to an average area of about 320 square feet.

While the average length of a perpendicular or angled parking space is fairly standard, parking spaces vary in width from 7.5 feet at the narrowest to 10 feet at the widest.

Because of the different method involved in parallel parking, these spaces have slightly different dimensions than the two more common types. While parallel parking spaces are, on average, as wide as perpendicular or angled spaces, they are generally longer and measure between 22 and 26 feet.
