Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and, as of October 2014, the largest city in the state. It is the home of museums, professional sports teams and several institutions of higher learning.
One of the nation's oldest cities, Boston was founded in 1630. Many famous events leading up to and taking place during the American Revolution occurred there, including the Boston Massacre, the Battle of Bunker Hill, Paul Revere's midnight ride and the Boston Tea Party. The Massachusetts State House is situated in the Beacon Hill District of Boston. It is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
