What is the Chicago Ogilvie Transportation Center?

The Chicago Ogilvie Transportation Center is a working transportation terminus that blends traditional and modern styles. The complex is used by three Union Pacific Metra routes, and over 40,000 commuters pass through the station each weekday, as of May 2015.

The Ogilvie site has been a railway station since its construction in 1911. In 1984, the original station was demolished, and construction began on the 42-story Citigroup Center, which now serves as the station's main entrance. The area under the tracks, called the MetraMarket, is a popular tourist attraction. As of May 2015, it features a French market, a drug store, and a variety of other shopping and dining options.
