The North Pole is not located on a continent, as there is no land underneath the North Pole. Only a large piece of drifting ice is under the North Pole. The mass of ice shrinks and expands based on the season.
The North Pole has two seasons: summer and winter. During the winter the average temperature falls to -40 degrees Fahrenheit. In the summer the North Pole reaches an average temperature of 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
The South Pole is located on the continent Antarctica. Temperatures at the South Pole get much colder than at the North Pole. The average temperature during the winter is -76 degrees Fahrenheit and is -18 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer.
