Where is Syria?

Syria is located in the southwestern Asia. It is one of the countries that makes up the Middle East. The geographic coordinates of Syria are 35 00 north and 38 00 east.

Syria is bordered by Turkey to its north, Israel and Lebanon to the west, Jordan to the south, and Iraq to the east. The northwest area of Syria includes a coastline along the Mediterranean Sea. The country's terrain ranges from mountains in the west to an interior desert in the east. As of 2014, the population of Syria is approximately 18 million and most people live along the coast and the Euphrates River.
