Are giraffes endangered?
By Forinfos - 14/05/2025 - 0 comments
The general giraffe population throughout Africa is starting to decline, with the West African giraffe having the lowest population at less than 300. With less than 80,000 giraffes in Africa, the Giraffe Conservation Foundation is working hard to create conservation methods to protect the current population and help it grow.
Past conservation attempts have shown positive results, with Niger's giraffe policies helping to take the West African giraffe population from 50 to more than a few hundred since 1999. The decline of giraffes is due to poaching, habitat destruction and the growth of the human population encroaching on the lives of giraffes.
