According to JaxTrainer, a Jacksonville certified personal fitness training website, a study on leg extensions showed that men's legs are nearly 50 percent stronger than their female counterparts. The average 10-repetition leg extensions for men was 119 pounds and only 79 pounds for women.
On JaxTrainer, Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D., said that men and women have nearly identical muscle tissue. Although the tissue is relatively the same and responds similar to stretch training during strength training, men generally have more muscle tissue than females. Men and women both respond to strength training in the upper and lower body by developing slightly stronger and larger muscles.
