When was Glenn Wessels' last painting?

Most of Glenn Wessels' paintings sold at auction between 1935 and 1969; however, “Copper Canyon” is dated 1975. This is seven years before he died in 1982, making the painting his last known work.

Glenn Anthony Wessels was a teacher and modernist painter. He studied at the College of Arts and Crafts and later earned a Master of Arts degree at the University of California at Berkeley. In the 1930s, Wessels was a technical supervisor for the Works Progress Administration Federal Arts Project. U.C. Berkeley offered Wessels a professorship in 1946, and he taught there for 27 years until 1973. He painted “Copper Canyon” two years later. Bonhams listed the painting for auction in 2009 with an estimate of $800 to $1,200.
