Who is Gnome Chompski?

Gnome Chompski is a garden gnome in the Valve games "Half-Life 2: Episode 2," "Left 4 Dead 2" and "Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing." In the first two of these, it is needed to earn an achievement.

Gnome Chompski was first named in "Left 4 Dead 2," though an identical garden gnome was in "Half Life 2: Episode 2," also by Valve. In "Half Life 2," the gnome must be carried through the entire length of the game to earn an achievement. In "Left 4 Dead 2," the gnome must only be carried through the Dark Carnival campaign to earn the achievement. Gnome Chompski also appears in a series of mini-games in the "Left 4 Dead 2" downloadable addition "The Passing."
