What is the goal of the First in Math initiative?

The goal of First In Math is to use digital gaming and the challenge of competition to help energize students to work consistently over time to build math and critical thinking skills. This program seeks to support classroom-based math instruction for students in grades ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.

First In Math offers video game-like activities for students and uses deep practice learning techniques designed to help students better retain what they learn. These games provide sequential learning, as well as immediate and supportive feedback. This format makes good use of learning techniques that improve math skill development, student confidence and speed of learning.
