Strengthen the quadriceps by tightening muscles at the front of the thigh with the foot in a towel and pushing the knee toward the foot. The movement should be held for five seconds and repeated at least 10 times.
Additional exercises to strengthen quadriceps include placing a foam roll under the knee while lying on the back and straightening the knee for five seconds before lowering the knee down. You can also wrap a resistance band around both ankles, sit on a chair and gradually move each leg forward and backward, rotating each foot while tightening the quadriceps during the exercise.
