Areas with easy access to resources like water are also beneficial for some kinds of manufacturing, but may vary depending on the product being produced.

For large manufacturing plants, access to building sites of sufficient size should also be considered. These plants need to be built close enough to major cities or population centers that employees of the plant can easily get to work every day, so the zoning regulations of a given area also need to be considered when choosing a plant location.
