What are some good patterns for Phentex wool-knitted slippers?

Stripes or a checkerboard pattern are quick and easy patterns for Phentex wool-knitted slippers. Both require two different colored balls of yarn and 50-millimeter knitting needles.

Cast on 66 stitches with the lighter color, and proceed using a garter stitch, alternating the color every six stitches. Work the pattern to the desired length, and sew the toe and heel closed. To add a gore, sew one stripe on each side to the inside of the slipper. Add a pompom or bow to the top for extra decoration.

This pattern can be modified to form a checkerboard pattern instead of a stripe by anchoring the yarn and alternating the color at the beginning of each row.
