What are some good pots for growing orchids?

A clear plastic pot nestled within a larger ceramic pot is a good vessel for growing orchids. The weight of the ceramic pot prevents top-heavy plants from tipping over, and it is possible to inspect the roots and potting mix by lifting the plastic pot out of the ceramic one.

Double-potting may be less ideal for an orchid that is not in bloom. It is better to use only a clear plastic pot for these orchids, as this allows for easier root inspection and lets the orchid photosynthesize through its roots. Once the orchid blooms, the clear pot is easily placed within a decorative ceramic one.
