What are some good train conductor training programs?

The best railroad conductor training programs are administered by the railroad corporations and offer paid training and job placement when training is complete. Two examples of such companies are BNSF Railway and CSX. To obtain a federal railroad conductor's license independently, courses are offered by Modoc Railroad.

Modoc Railroad is a self-pay company that offers certifications and recertifications for conductors and is useful if the prospective employee is unable to secure a job with a railroad company initially or is unable to complete the training with a railroad company. Most railroads provide newly hired conductor trainees with pay, food, lodging and transport during the training period, which usually lasts four to eight weeks. Once the trainee is certified, there is additional on-the-job training.
