What is a good WPM score?

According to Learn2Type, an average typing speed is 40 words per minute, or WPM. Anything higher than this score is considered to be better than average, but some employers require a minimum speed that could be higher.

A good high speed that is often listed as a minimum requirement for employment is 60 WPM. Scores between 60 WPM and 100 WPM are considered to be a very fast speed as long as they are achieved with little to no errors. When taking a typing test, it is best to backspace rather than typing as fast as possible to beat the clock.
