The sale of alcohol is allowed on Sundays in the state of Massachusetts. A law was passed in 2003 to allow the sale of liquor on Sundays, and in July of 2014, the law was expanded to allow liquor stores to sell alcohol starting at 10 a.m. instead of noon.
In the state of Massachusetts, the sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits is allowed at grocery stores, which is not the case in all states. The off premises sale of alcohol is also prohibited while polls are open on election day, as well as Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, in addition to the day after Christmas if the holiday falls on a Sunday.
