"Gravity Falls" is the original intellectual property of its creator, Alex Hirsch, and does not derive from any book or previous media. The show began airing in 2012 after Hirsch's successful pitch to the Disney Channel.
"Gravity Falls" revolves around the summer adventures of mystery-solving twins Dipper and Mabel Pines. The Pines twins spend a summer with their "grunkle" Stan in the Pacific Northwest and swiftly discover that their town, Gravity Falls, is full of strange events and presences.
The show covers such subjects as witchcraft, paranormal presences, time travel and other staples of the supernatural and horror genres. It is presented in a half-hour comedy or dramedy format.
