A group of wolves is called a pack. Wolves are social creatures that travel, hunt and perform all activities together. The pack is made up of family members, whether by blood or special ties.

A pack's leadership consists of a mated pair, an adult female and male, and their offspring. Each pack consists of six to 15 wolves, depending on the available food, population and social factors within the group. There may be other wolves in the pack, including non-breeding adult wolves and outcasts, the lowest-ranked wolves When young mature, they may leave the pack and find their own area to settle.
