How do you grow green beans?

Grow green beans by choosing a suitable location, sowing the seeds in the right kind of soil, setting up trellises, mulching the plants, watering them regularly and fertilizing when necessary. You need green bean seeds, trellises, mulch, water and fertilizer.
- Choose a suitable location
Select a location with exposure to full sun. If you are planting pole beans, make sure the location has enough room for a trellis.
- Use the right kind of soil
Use well-drained, loamy soil to plant the beans. Before planting, the soil needs to reach a temperature of at least 48 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Sow the seeds
Plant green bean seeds in 1-inch deep holes. Space the holes 2 to 3 inches apart.
- Set up trellises
Set up trellises to support the beans.
- Mulch the plants
Spread a layer of mulch around the base of the plants to help the soil remain moist.
- Water the plants
Water the plants regularly, but be careful not to soak the foliage. It is best to water them on sunny days so that any water on the leaves dries immediately.
- Fertilize the plants
Fertilize the plants only lightly if the soil is low on nutrients. Too much fertilizer results in luscious leaves without much bean growth.
