How do you grow vegetables?

To grow vegetables, raise the seedlings from indoors, tend the outside soil, and place the seeds in the garden bed when they are fully mature. You need a spray bottle, peat moss, trays, vermiculite and compost. Also grow lights, scissors, a power tiller, a hoe and plastic wrap can help complete this project.
- Nurture the seedlings
Fill the starting flats with starting soil using 1 part peat moss, 1 part compost and 1 part vermiculite. Add water to enhance moisture.
- Sow the seeds
Sow the seeds in rows with 3 inches of space. Space out each seed 2 inches apart, and sow to a depth that is twice that of the seed's width. Cover the seeds in a soil layer of 1/4 inches. Spray moisture over the seeds, and apply plastic wrap to preserve the moisture. Place the seedlings in a warm place for germination.
- Warm the seedlings
Remove the trays after seven to 14 days. Relocate the trays to a window sill, or use grow lights. Apply constant moisture to the soil.
- Thin the seedlings
Thin the seeds after the second set of leaves emerge. Prune away the weaker seedlings
- Prepare the outside soil
Make the garden bed in an area with full sun and well-drained soil. Add a 3-inch layer of compost over the bed, and till the soil to a depth of 6 inches.
- Transplant the plants
Place the seedlings at the same soil depth as the depth of the soil pot after all frost passes. Space the plants accordingly. Add 1 to 2 inches of water in a single session each week.
