Are guests allowed to take photographs of the White House?
By Forinfos - 12/12/2025 - 0 comments
Guests can take photographs throughout the White House, as of December 2015. Visitors can take any phone or compact still camera with a fixed lens no larger than 3 inches on a tour inside the White House. However, video cameras, camcorders, tablets, and cameras with detachable lenses are prohibited.
Flash photography and live streaming are also prohibited, along with tripods, monopods and camera sticks. The White House has put up signs to say that photography is encouraged and invites visitors to share their images on social media by using the hashtag #WhiteHouseTour. The 40-year ban on taking photos was lifted in July 2015.
