What are gusset plates?
By Forinfos - 24/02/2026 - 0 comments
Gusset plates are thick steel sheets that connect girders or beams to columns or truss members to each other. They also strengthen joints and are typically used in the construction of buildings, bridges and other structures.
Gusset plates may be made of cold-rolled or galvanized steel. Galvanized steel is more resistant to rust and usually used outdoors. Gusset plates are often painted to match the structures in which they are being used.
Gusset plates are typically either square or rectangular but may be custom sized to fit a particular joint. They may be the only point of connection or used with fasteners, such as nuts and bolts.
