How does hair testing work?

Hair testing or analysis is typically carried out to determine drug use or recent exposure to toxic chemicals. Hair samples are taken from the new growth at the nape or pubic area. Samples are sent to the laboratory, washed in special chemicals and then spectrographically analyzed.
With the application of various spectrographic and assessment processes, as many as 40 trace elements and drug metabolites are detectable during hair testing. Results are usually available within three weeks and are recorded by a computer. A printout of the results, which contains significant findings and recommendations, is mailed to the health practitioner or individual client.
