Is ham bad for dogs?
By Forinfos - 19/06/2025 - 0 comments
Ham in large portions can cause sickness in some dogs. A small amount should not cause any long-term complications.
Ham is high in sodium and fat. The saltiness of the ham might cause a dog to drink an abundance of water. When larger dogs drink too much water, they run the risk of getting bloat. Bloat is a potentially fatal condition that causes the stomach to fill with gas and twist. The high fat content of the ham could also lead to pancreatitis, which is also deadly. In addition, dogs should never be given ham bones as they have a tendency to splinter. The dog could swallow the splinter and cause major internal injuries.
