What happened to Audrey Kaplan, a woman from Dallas who went missing?

Audrey Kaplan disappeared while hiking with her husband on the Windsor Trail, near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Volunteers discovered her body on Monday, Aug.t 4, 2014. Hypothermia due to dehydration and accelerated loss of body heat was the stated cause of death.

Audrey Kaplan went missing while collecting mushrooms with her husband Norman Kaplan, a professor of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. When Norman stopped to rest, Audrey continued on without him and never came back. Audrey Kaplan was missing for approximately one week before her body was recovered after a widespread search of the surrounding area. The body's location was about a mile from where the woman and her husband became separated.
