Some facts about hard water are that it is measured in grains per gallon on a scale of one to 10 and above, it is not harmful to human health and that it can clog and reduce the flow inside of pipes. A water softener eliminates hard water problems.
The minerals in hard water are harsh and causes the lifespan of clothing to be reduced. Hard water imparts an undesirable taste to beverages made with it. Hard water causes scale build up inside of appliances, such as washing machines and hot water heaters. Some studies suggest that drinking hard water has health benefits, including lowering the risk of osteoporosis and heart disease.
