Is having a stomach ache an early sign of pregnancy?

A mild stomach ache is a possible early sign of pregnancy, according to WebMD. Morning sickness, characterized by nausea and vomiting, does not typically start until a woman has been pregnant seven to nine weeks.
To help get her stomach under control, a newly pregnant woman should eat small amounts during the day with an emphasis on protein, advises WebMD. A bedtime snack helps maintain blood sugar levels for several hours, making a morning stomach ache less likely. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids, such as plain water, diluted fruit juice, ginger tea or a commercial pregnancy tea. Mint tea sometimes improves a stomach ache; however, the drink aggravates heartburn, which is sometimes an issue during pregnancy.
