What is Fenbendazole?

Fenbendazole is used to treat parasites in animals. The medication is designed to treat roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm infestations.
Sold under the brand name Panacur, the broad spectrum medication is classified as an anthelmintic. Fenbendazole is available over the counter and can be administered by pet owners. Along with the variety of worms, some veterinarians use the medication to treat bronchial and lung infections caused by parasites in dogs and cats. Panacur is available in three forms, powder, liquids and paste. Alt hough the medication is available to all pet owners, they should discuss it with a veterinarian before usage since side effects can occur.
