Fish oil supplementation has been proven to help people suffering from common types of arthritis, says Healthline. According to WebMD, fish oil contains omega 3, a healthy fat that has been shown to reduce inflammation in the body.

According to Healthline, symptoms of the two most common types of arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, have been shown to be reduced through the use of fish oil. Patients in studies reported less joint tenderness and morning pain with regular supplementation, reports WebMD.

According to WebMD the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil are effective at reducing inflammation throughout the body, which, in turn, can reduce pain, tenderness and swelling.
