When is a good time to conceive a baby?

A good time to conceive a baby is between two days before ovulation and one day after ovulating, explains Babycenter. This way, there’s more likelihood that healthy sperm is waiting in the fallopian tube for an egg to be released after sexual intercourse.
Sperm can live for three to five days, while the egg is viable for only 12 to 24 hours, explains Babycenter. Typically, a woman ovulates about 14 days before she has her next period. To predict ovulation, doctors advise women to use a calendar to mark the days on which their periods begin, watch for changes in cervical mucus in vaginal secretions, check for an increase in basal body temperature and use an ovulation predictor, states Mayo Clinic.
