Huntsman spider bites are not typically dangerous, although they can be painful. The Victorian State Government's Better Health Channel describes huntsman spiders as usually being harmless.
Huntsman spider bites can cause swelling and pain. However, studies of confirmed bites by these spiders do not report incidents of necrosis or cell death; and, these bites usually do not require hospital treatment. Huntsman spiders are most likely to bite if one ignores the display they make when threatened. They are most commonly found in Australia, although some huntsman spiders have been introduced to other parts of the world, including the United States.
