Healthy glucose levels charts are not the same for adults and children because they show different target blood sugar levels, according to WebMD. Separate charts are available for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and teens 13 to 19.
For example, before meals, the target blood sugar level for adults with diabetes is between 70 and 130 milligrams per deciliter, explains WebMD. For children, the range is 90 to 180, while the goal for teens is 90 to 130. The optimal fasting glucose level for adults is less than 100, but for children it is between 80 and 180. The healthy fasting level for teens with diabetes runs from 70 to 150.
