Gold bars, also known as gold bullion or ingots, vary in size, but the standard weight of a gold bullion bar is 400 troy ounces, or about 27.5 pounds. The measurement of a standard gold bar is 7 inches by 3.625 inches by 1.75 inches.
By definition, a gold ingot, bar or bullion can be any size or weight, and can be cast or minted. The standard 400-troy-ounce weight, known as the Good Delivery gold bar, is the most common size stored in banks and government depositories. A gold bar must be a minimum of 99.5 percent gold to be certified Good Delivery.
