Hell's bells tea is a tea brewed from the hell's bells plant. The plant is also known as Jimson weed and datura. It contains chemicals that both relieve pain and cause hallucinations. The medicinal dosage is only slightly lower than the toxic overdose level.
The leaves of the plant can be steeped in hot water to produce a tea, and the seeds can be chewed. Medicinally, the plant can be used as a sedative and painkiller. It is abused as a recreational hallucinogenic drug by some people. Overdoses of the drug can cause seizures, severe hypertension, severe hallucinations and life-threatening heart arrhythmias.
