This type of surgery is typically an outpatient procedure, and the surgeon can use a knife, an electric tool or a laser to remvoe the hemorrhoid. The Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids, or PPH, is a less-invasive type of surgery that uses staples to cut the blood supply to hemorrhoids. Without blood, the hemorrhoids eventually shrivel and die. This procedure is less painful than a hemorrhoidectomy, but individuals are more likely to experience symptoms again.
