What is hemp seed?

Hemp seeds are the seeds from the hemp plant, which is used to produce fiber. Hailing from a Cannabis plant of close relation to marijuana, hemp does not contain THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. Hemp seeds are a complete protein, and they contain fiber, magnesium, iron and potassium.
Hemp seeds are added to many food items and are used to produce countless other products, such as hemp milk, hemp seed oil and hemp protein powder. They can be sprinkled over foods, baked into foods or ground up as part of raw foods, such as smoothies. While they can be cooked, hemp seeds have the highest nutritional value when eaten raw.
