Anise seed, parsley, red clover, licorice and thyme contain phytoestrogens, which are plant hormones that the body converts to estrogen, according to SFGate. Turmeric, verbena, sage and hops have a similar effect. Whether dried or fresh, consuming these herbs offers a slight boost in estrogen.
Additionally, phytoestrogens are present in flax seed and soy products. Flax seed and soy supplements can affect estrogen levels, reveals a study discussed in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. This study shows that when taken in the same amounts, flax seed supplements have a greater effect on an individual's estrogen levels than soy supplements.
