Who is Herobrine?

Herobrine is a hoax character from the game "Minecraft." In the story, he is allegedly the ghost of game creator Notch, whose soul is coded into the game files.

Herobrine looks like the standard "Minecraft Steve" with solid white eyes that glow. Seen at a distance and never on purpose, the story accuses him of making pyramids at the bottom of the ocean, digging long tunnels and placing torches in private games. Since the hoax, Herobrine has seen a rise in popularity, with several fan-created mods inserting him into custom "Minecraft" servers. Other than these mods, Herobrine is not real.
