The author of Hebrews has not been determined as of 2014, but the letter is often attributed to Barnabas or Paul. Hebrews is one of the 27 books of the New Testament.
The book of Hebrews is classified as an apostolic letter or epistle. At the time of its writing, some Christians were facing significant persecution. The author of Hebrews encouraged those Christians to remain strong in their faith and resist the temptation to convert back to Judaism. Hebrews also positions Jesus as a perfect and permanent sacrifice, superior to the temporary sacrifices offered in the Old Testament. This book mentions some of the most faithful people in the Old Testament, particularly Abraham, Noah, Abel and Enoch.
