A hibiscus flower is a large flower that grows on the hibiscus, which is a small tree or large shrub. The flowers can grow up to 6 inches wide and are shaped like trumpets. They attract both hummingbirds and butterflies to the landscape with peach, yellow and red hues.
A hibiscus plant has deciduous, dark green leaves and can grow up to 15 feet tall. The plant requires full sun and well-drained soils that get at least 1 inch of water every week. Gardeners can use the hibiscus plant as a hedge or prune it into a tree with one stem.
