How high can rabbits jump?

Rabbits can jump vertically about 2 feet, but they can also leap 9 feet horizontally due to their robust back legs. Rabbits can balance on those powerful legs to scout their surroundings for predators, and they thump the ground vigorously to alert other rabbits of danger.

Cottontail rabbits can leap as far as 15 feet vertically to escape predators, such as raccoons, dogs, hawks and snakes, and they breed often to replace those lost. When rabbits are happy and excited, they run and jump in the air, twirling their bodies and tapping their feet. Along with chameleons, rabbits view the world with 360-degree panoramic vision, which literally means they can see in all directions.
