What is the highest credit score you can get?

As of 2014, a perfect score on the FICO credit scoring model is 850. However, a perfect score is rare. A 2013 Bankrate article pointed out that a long-time mortgage banker had never seen a FICO score higher than 834.
From a typical lender's perspective, scores above 780 or 800 are just as advantageous as the perfect score of 850 as of 2014. Lenders look for credit ratings deemed to be excellent in awarding the most favorable loan rates and terms. A perfect score may be a feather in a person's cap, but it doesn't offer much financial benefit over an excellent score of 800.
