As of 2015, the highest ranking engineering schools are Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, California Institute of Technology, Georgia Institute of Technology and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, according to U.S. News & World Report. The reports lists Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the highest ranked school for undergraduate engineering degrees in the United States.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts and has a 205 enrollment of 4,528 students. Stanford University is located about 30 miles from San Francisco and provides students research project opportunities. University of California at Berkeley is a public university with 25,951 students, as of 2015, while California Institute of Technology is a private school of 977 students.

Other highly ranked schools are Carnegie Mellon University, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Purdue University, notes U.S. News & World Report.
