Why is Anne Frank a hero?

Anne Frank is one of the most prominent figures of the Holocaust, famous for recording the daily life of a Jewish family hiding from the Nazis. The diary she kept as she was hiding from the Nazis is one of the best-known sources about Nazi Germany as well as a vivid record of her spirit and courage amid dangers and suffering.

Anne Frank had been hiding in her house in Amsterdam for 25 months before the Gestapo found her and her family. The entire family was taken to concentration camps and her father, Otto, was the sole survivor. Anne died in April of 1945, just a few weeks before the war ended.
