Did Tesla invent the light bulb?

Nikola Tesla did not invent the light bulb, rather it was Thomas Edison that used his knowledge of electricity to invent it after trying and failing many times. Tesla was a prolific inventor however, and even Edison employed him at one point to help perfect his electrical lighting system.

Edison carried out the majority of his work on inventions from his laboratory in Menlo Park, NJ. It was there, that the light bulb was finally invented after 1,600 previous attempts. The initial failures in creating the light bulb were due to Edison needing to find the right material to act as the filament. His persistence paid off, and he finally discovered the correct filament material to be carbonized bamboo.
