Who invented the Segway?

The Segway was invented by Dean Kamen and was introduced in December 2001 after 10 years in development. As of 2014, Kamen is an American inventor whose other inventions include the iBot all-terrain electric wheelchair, the HomeChoice peritoneal dialysis system and the first infusion pump that can be worn.
When he was a teenager, Kamen developed various electrical inventions and was earning approximately $60,000 annually. His first notable invention was the AutoSyringe portable medication system in 1976. The product and company that Kamen set up to sell it was acquired by Baxter International in 1982. Kamen was born in New York state in 1951.
